The power efficient GPU has been designed to provide great value for money, and has already shown us more promise than Intel’s last foray into the GPU space.

First Impressions

The Intel Arc B580 is a great entry-level GPU, producing reasonable performance figures at a great price. The budget friendliness of the graphics card also extends to its power consumption - the low TDP of 190W might make it a perfect upgrade option for anyone limited by their current PSU wattage.

Gaming

Workstation

Our initial impressions of the Intel Arc B580 were great during gaming: Occasionally inconsistent frametimes Acceptable FPS figures in demanding titles at 1080P and 2K resolutions Singular bug when trying to run a title at Ultra RT

The Intel Arc B580 handles 2D and 3D workloads effectively: Good performance in GPU specific tasks like running image filters Falls short of NVIDIAs Ada graphics cards Reports of a crash when attempting to run Blender

Pros and Cons

Great

Good

Not so Good

Affordable price point - great for budget builds Power efficiency under load 12 GB VRAM

Reasonable gaming performance - usable FPS figures up to 2K resolution

Unusually power hungry when idle A few bugs and inconsistent frame rates

Gaming performance could have been smoother but we have no complaints at the price point. As is the case with most initial launches, the Intel Arc Battlemage or B580, is not bug free, and could do with some driver and system optimisation to help make framerate more consistent during gameplay, and curb its idle power consumption (around 30W).

Intel Arc B580 vs the Competition

Launched at $249 in the USA, we estimate the launch price of the Intel Arc B580 in India to be around 24,000. In terms of performance, the Arc B580 takes the fight to NVIDIA's RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 4060, as well as AMD's RX 7600; certainly helped by its VRAM capacity advantage over some competing models, producing better results in memory-intensive applications.

At the estimated price, the competition includes the NVIDIA RTX 4060 and AMD RX 7600.
